In-home clinical support from basic to complex

We have Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses who are highly skilled and experienced in supporting our clients in the community.

Palliative Care

We're by your side

RDNS New Zealand can provide palliative care if you or someone you know has a terminal illness. We aim to maintain our clients' quality of life and will assist them to die with dignity in their chosen environment.

We are here to help you and your family deal with the many issues that arise at times of serious illness. We have access to social workers and trained volunteers who can provide friendship and support to help you through the challenges you are facing.

Our palliative care nurses can:
  • provide expert support anytime, day or night
  • help manage pain and other symptoms
  • provide emotional support to clients and family, including overnight respite
  • arrange any necessary equipment
  • work in partnership with clients, families, doctors and community palliative care services
  • provide or arrange bereavement care including grief counselling

Dementia care

Support for people living with dementia

Dementia is the loss of cognitive ability in a person. We understand that if you are living with dementia, or know someone who is, it can quite often be a frightening and confusing experience. RDNS New Zealand is here to help you manage the changes brought on by dementia. We want to keep you happy and connected to your community.

Our nurses can assist you by:

  • assessing and helping you manage problems with memory loss and confusion
  • implementing strategies that may allow you to live safely in your own home
  • helping you manage your medicines and understanding what they do and how they work
  • completing a comprehensive and holistic assessment and referring you to a range of community services

Support for home haemodialysis

Support for Home Haemodialysis

RDNS New Zealand has advanced support workers who are trained specifically to assist people to manage their dialysis at home with some support. This service is currently available only through the Renal Unit at Dunedin Hospital and eligibility for the program is determined by the Renal Unit.
