Living My Life support for people with disabilities

RDNS New Zealand

RDNS NZ will deliver the program in the Greater Auckland and Southland-Otago regions.

“We’re delighted to have won this opportunity to expand services for clients with disabilities,” RDNS NZ CEO Carmel Conaghan said.

“Living My Life aligns well with our RDNS NZ ‘By Your Side’ support and service model, which is built around the goals, aspirations and needs of clients and their families, or whanau. Our model means we listen to the client to understand what they want to achieve, using innovative ways to support their goals and aspirations and, where necessary, advocating for the client.”

Under the new Living My Life program, RDNS NZ will support clients to develop a visual map of what is important to them and their whanau, understand the range of services and supports available in their community and access the support they need.

The services will have a strong focus on supporting people develop skills that assist them in achieving personal goals and building interests, activities and relationships within the community.

“We will be supporting people to set personal goals that look at what is important to them, whether it is going to church or creating a resume and getting a job,” Carmel said.

“It’s wonderful to be able to expand our existing services for ACC clients, which include supporting people to transition from hospital after spinal or brain injury.

“It is very significant for us to have ACC’s vote of confidence in our clinician-led and customer-focused service approach.”

As part of its Living My Life commitment, RDNS NZ will also develop and implement group programs supporting people to achieve particular common goals, such as finding voluntary or paid work.
