Newly appointed RDNS New Zealand Clinical Nurse Manager South Island Patrick Gwavava brings extensive health and aged care experience to his new role.

Patrick has worked with RDNS since 2016. He has experience supporting health and wellbeing for people of all ages, from his work as a qualified midwife in Zimbabwe to work in rest homes in New Zealand.

At RDNS his focus is on building community partnerships and understanding the individual needs of clients to support excellent care.

“Because each client has different needs we tailor each care plan, often thinking outside the box, to ensure their needs are met,” Patrick says.

“Meeting our clients and initiating a conversation is one of the things I most enjoy about my work.

“Before you know it you’ve uncovered a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and life history.

“For some clients it’s their only conversation in the day, and right at that moment I know I have served someone well.”

RDNZ NZ CEO Carmel Conaghan said she was pleased to welcome Patrick into his new role.

“We look forward to Patrick working closely with our Southern teams to best support our clients to remain in their homes,” she said.
