OUR BOARD MEMBERS ARE:

Mr Pat McIntosh AM CSC 

Chairman of the Board

B.Bus, GradDipMgnt, MBA, MAICD

Mr McIntosh is a Graduate of the Australian Army Staff College and the Australian Defence College. He was a Commissioned Officer in the Australian Army for 27 years. He then worked in the finance sector for 13 years and was an equity owner of a financial planning business. He is currently the Chair of two for profit businesses; Altura Learning and RDNS Hong Kong, and he is also a Director of the Royal Australian Regiment Corporation.

Mr Henare Mason

- Director

Henare Mason is a New Zealand Maori whose tribal affiliations are Te Arawa and Tuhoe.

He has 30 years’ experience in the New Zealand health sector, in both management and governance. He was recently appointed as deputy chair of the New Zealand Maori Council, which is a statutory body and policy partner of the New Zealand Government.

Henare is extensively involved with Maori tribal development and has a particular interest in health equity, research and children’s health.

Henare served in Vietnam in the New Zealand Armed Services and consequently has an interest in the wellbeing of veterans.

Mr Ken Whelan 

- Director

Ken is a senior health executive with over 30 years as a senior manager. For more than 20 of those years, he has been a CEO for health providers and purchasers in New Zealand and Australia. These range from secondary and tertiary providers with large rural and indigenous populations to major quaternary teaching facilities.

Ken’s most recent roles include: Crown Monitor for the Counties Manukau and Waikato DHBs; Deputy Secretary, System Purchasing and Performance for the NSW Department of Health; Chief Executive, Metro North Health and Hospital Service; and co-facilitator of the GE Executive Health Leadership Program (Australia).

His clients value Ken’s strengths in delivering strong collaborative leadership and sustainable organisational change. An experienced leader, he has implemented clinical and corporate governance models across systems to improve client flow.  Ken has a nursing background.

Mr Stephen Muggleton

- Group CEO, Bolton Clarke

Bachelor of Applied Science, Masters in Health Administration, GAICD

Stephen Muggleton is regarded as a transformational CEO. He has more than 25 years’ experience managing teaching hospitals and some of Australia’s largest residential and community aged care organisations. He has been a member of a number of industry, national and international expert committees on health and ageing.

Stephen’s contributions to health and aged care have been recognised with an Adjunct Professor title from the University of Queensland, a Queensland Reconciliation Award, a Prime Minister’s Award and an Institute of Management Award for not-for-profit Manager of the Year.

Ms Carmel Conaghan

- CEO, RDNS New Zealand

Carmel has worked for more than 25 years in hospital-based and community health service delivery in New Zealand, Australia and the US.

For 14 years, she has taken leadership roles at RDNS in Australia and New Zealand. In 2012, she was recognised as the inaugural RDNS Employee of the Year for her visionary leadership of RDNS NZ.

Carmel has been CEO of RDNS NZ since 2017. In this role, she is committed to making a difference in people’s lives and actively contributes to development of the home and community support sector. She is a Director of Harbour Hospice and Age Concern North Shore.

In her spare time, Carmel loves spending time with family and friends and walking the family dog, Jack.
