Supporting clients with spinal cord and brain injuries to regain confidence and transition back into the community to live a full life is a focus for Royal District Nursing Service New Zealand (RDNS NZ).
The Home Care Provider has reinforced its strong commitment to restorative care this month with a donation that is making a significant difference for patients at the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit (ASRU).

The donation supported a project of the Middlemore Foundation for Health Innovation to upgrade the kitchen at the Otara Spinal Unit whilst also ensuring it was wheelchair accessible.

RDNS NZ contributed two new microwaves, a new oven, a new dishwasher and an extractor to create a welcoming environment for patients and promoting independence.

“Our organisation is about social good, and it’s wonderful to be able to make the lives of people in the spinal unit a bit easier,” RDNS NZ, CEO Carmel Conaghan said.

RDNS NZ’s Nursing and Home care  team supports people of all ages to recover from illness and injury and live at home with a strong focus on wellbeing and independence.

The organisation currently works with clients aged 2-100 across New Zealand providing services from support with housework and errands to 24-hour clinical care and co-ordination.
